Server for managing Parcel Stations for Siemens

Paket Station

Parcel stations will become an increasing part of our daily lives in future. Similar to a cash point, they are completely independent of business hours. Parcels can be deposited and collected at any time. Behind these seemingly easy use cases are, however, a wide range of postal service processes for cash on delivery, parcel prioritisation or user administration.

In order to launch a competitive product on to the market, the system needs to be organized as flexibly as possible. A service-oriented architecture has enabled us meet this requirement successfully on Siemens' behalf. The individual modules, such as user administration, notification service, or despatch management are loosely coupled with each other through an enterprise service bus, and are therefore, easily interchangeable.

The applications for managing the system are implemented on the basis of portlets, enabling web-based application interfaces to be integrated into any customer portal.
