ARD Radio Crime Stories: Sybit involved

Information about the new episode can be found on the Internet two weeks before it is first due to be broadcasted, and Internet users can get a first impression of the next case from audio samples, and a brief description of its content. The audio streams of the respective broadcasting station where the piece can be heard LIVE will be shown on the homepage at http://radiotatort.ard.de/ already during the week of the broadcast.

A player, realized by Sybit, is a central element of the online presence enabling the play, a trailer, and up to three audio samples to be heard. The audio streams are provided in 2 qualities (ISDN/DSL), and can be played via Flash or Windows Media Player. The player can be optionally integrated into the start page, or operated in its own window (pop-up). In the pop-up player, additional background information is provided about the plot, scene, roles/actors, and a "look behind the scenes".

Modern scripting technology (AJAX) enables the play to be enjoyed without any interruption while calling up any additional information. SWR considered web accessibility to be a matter of course in implementing the website.

Sybit tailored the web editor of the underlying CoreMedia CMS perfectly to the editorial requirements of the regional broadcasting stations involved for optimal website support, enabling the online editorial department of the respective station to edit contributions as far as possible by themselves.

All episodes of the "ARD Radio Crime Drama" can normally be listened to again every Monday from 11 p.m. for seven days on the Internet after the last broadcast on the radio in the normal week of broadcasting. It will also be possible to download four of the twelve productions in the course of the year.

"We could not have wished for a better start ... ... our new radio series has also been welcomed throughout the national press, and has been covered to an extent that has never yet been conferred on radio plays in the past", said Bernhard Hermann, Broadcasting Director at SWR about the success of the new radio format.

Ms. Pohlmann, in charge of the development of radiotatort.ARD.de, expressed her satisfaction about the successful cooperation between SWR and Sybit: "Sybit has once again proved to be a quality-conscious and reliable partner in project implementation".

Extending the amount of material for downloading and providing a podcast service are being considered for 2009.
